This spot has been open for YEARS now and I've never seen it without a line, hence why it's taken me this long to actually try it out. It took our party of 4 about 30-40 minutes to get seated at the bar for an early dinner seating on a Sunday, so fair warning there. We started with the lychee martini (amazing!) and cucumber salad. I've never met a cucumber salad I don't like, though I would critique that this one is chopped fairly large. The green beans were delicious! I like that it was well seasoned, and cooked to perfection--cooked but still had a bit of a crunch. The chicken soup dumpling was solid, but I wouldn't say it was life changing. What's life changing you may ask? The vegan spicy wontons!! I had low expectations with this, but wow. The wontons were well cooked and not mushy and the sauce was banger. A nice kick without being too spicy. Overall, I enjoyed the meal! I wouldn't stand in such a long again, but if I walked buy and the wait was under 15-20 minutes, it would certainly be worth it. Service: 5/5 Food/Drinks: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Atmosphere: 4/5

My group and I tried the vegan wontons, which were delicious, and I loved that it was coated in spicy sauce. The vegan dumplings were ok (I felt like they needed a bit more flavor, but with vinegar and soy sauce they were decent). My favorite was the chocolate and mochi xiao long bao. We ordered it with a side of sea salt cream, and it was delectable! The service was also really good, our food came out quick! The wait is definitely long, so you have to be sure to join the waitlist hours in advance, but the restaurant was pretty nice!

Din Tai Fung is a delicious taste from Taiwan. I'm not an extreme fan of xiao long bao or dim sum, but after moving from Taiwan to the U.S., I really admire how Din Tai Fung consistently maintains its flavor. The service quality today wasn't quite at the level of Taiwan, but it was still above the industry average. I especially love their beef noodle soup--the tender, bouncy beef combined with the rich and flavorful broth is just as soft and delicious even when taken to go. Since I love spinach, I appreciate that Din Tai Fung offers customization for all their dishes. I usually order mine without salt, garlic, or even MSG. Overall, there are already several Din Tai Fung locations across Northern and Southern California, but this one is the best I've had. The only downside is the ridiculously long wait, it takes at least three hours to get a table. I recommend getting a number in advance and then going shopping while waiting. If you don't want to wait, takeout is a much faster option. Still, this place is well worth a five-star recommendation!

OK, so being gluten-free, dim sum is not something that I normally think about eating. I've had it once or twice at restaurants that have a few items on their menu and I probably wouldn't have chosen this restaurant on my own, but I went with my family. Thankfully, for me, my daughter did her research and knew that they had quite a few options on the menu that were gluten-free. She went to the restaurant in Los Angeles with a friend and loved it and had been dying to take us there ever since. One thing you should know is this place is busy! You should make a reservation, but if you can't, you need to get on the waiting list very early. You have to be within 5 miles to get on the waiting list online. I don't think they will put you on the waiting list by phone. So we happened to be nearby for a sports function and got on the waiting list as soon as we could. It was about 3 PM when the online waiting list opened up for the night. We were something like number 260 on the waiting list and were told that we would probably get a table around 7 PM to 7:30 PM. That's crazy. It shows how popular this place is. We checked our number every 15 minutes or so, and it would go down a bit. But true to their estimate, we got a table at 7 PM. The place was packed. They give you a menu where you check off the items you want. The gluten-free items are clearly marked. I couldn't eat all the dumplings, but it didn't matter to me. They had fried rice and lots of vegetables and they had a delicious sticky rice with red bean dessert. The rest of my family got the chocolate filled dumplings with this salty caramel cream sauce. That sauce was divine! And I mean divine. Luckily my dessert came before theirs did so I got to use the sauce before it got contaminated with everybody else's gluten!! I want find out how they make that. So for me, I ordered the crispy, cabbage dish, the stirfry green beans, and the chicken fried rice with the sticky rice dessert. There were other things on the menu that I could've ordered, but that was plenty for me. Everyone else ordered an assortment of dumplings . Our server was very nice and the food came fairly quickly. Once we were done with one dish, another one would come out. Oh, and by the way, it's in Westview mall and the first two hours of parking are free so if you time it right, you can get free parking for tour meal. The parking garage was packed and people seemed a little anxious to get out of there ASAP so they weren't so friendly about letting other people enter which is something I see quite a bit, especially in the south Bay. I wish people were more considerate of being kind to the people in front of them but that doesn't have anything to do with the restaurant.

Thank you, Yelp, for allowing us to reserve a table! I'm eager to try Din Tai Fung at all their locations! This Din Tai Fung is conveniently located in the Westfield Valley Fair, close to the San Jose airport. The restaurant is both clean and well-maintained. We started with the refreshing cucumber salad. Then, we indulged in the delectable kurobuta pork xiao long bao. The shao mai and pot stickers were equally delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish we tried. This location has earned a special place in my heart as my second favorite Din Tai Fung.

The wait was about 3hrs on a Sunday so definitely be prepared but the food quality is always so consistent and worth the hype!

The shrimp and pork wontons were delicious! The service was great! Special shoutout to the Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao, definitely was the highlight of the meal.
